I have a program that is trying to make charts in the svg format that will be downloaded with safari. I went to adobe's website and downloaded the macosx version of their SVG viewer, and it went to my downloads folder. I double clicked on the icon, it came up in the dock and appeared to copy some items, then closed. After it copied, i tried to open the files, but it still said that there was no application to view it with. I then took the download executable and put it in the applications folder, still wouldn't work. When I select the file from a list in order to read it, I get an error. I am new to macs and dont quite understand the instalation process. Programs just dragged to the application folder just seem to work. Is there no registry for macs? Thank you for your help and support.

To view SVG you'll either need an HTML editor like Adobe GoLive or Dreamweaver or you should be able to open the svg files in your browser. Just drag the svg to your browser icon and it should open in a new browser window.

The plug in you downloaded is to add svg functionality to your browser, not to actually open the svg file.

Let me know if this doesn't work.
