Hi Marty,

Thanks for choosing No Wonder. My name is Ryan and I will attempt to answer your question. Let me start off by saying I ran into this same problem when I build my most recent computer. I went through two cases and two processors just to finally figure out the processor was bad. At first when I had my machine all setup ready to go, I would turn the power on and just hear what sounded like electrical current running through everything but nothing happened. I thought I had a bad power supply in my case so I took the case back and exchanged it for another one. I got the new case and the exact same thing happened but this time I could get the fan to turn. I started messing around, trying to figure out what else could be wrong. I then tried the processor. I had another one laying around so I figured it couldn't hurt anything. Sure enough, the system came right up. I took the bad processor back and they told me there shouldn't be anything wrong with it but they did exchange it for another one. It was an AMD K6 233 by the way. I popped the new processor in and everything worked fine. My advice to you...try taking the processor back. A good test would be an old processor if you have one. If you can't take the processor back, you may want to consider purchasing a new one. Let me know how things work out and let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Thanks again for using No Wonder.
