I am new to Mac and am in the process of switching over files, etc, from PC. I have configured Mail to send/receive IMAP AOL. Now, I want to transfer old AOL emails saved to my PC and have these available within Mail mailboxes. Any idea how I can do this?
Thanks
Greg

Thank you for choosing Macosx.com... i hope i can help you in with your mail problem.
Are the email that you have still on the AOL servers or are they sitting in your Outlook inbox on your PC? If so, i think the 2nd tip can help with bringing over .pst files, being your emails on a PC over to a Mac.
Someone had recently asked a similar question so i will post some notes:
Please read up on the following:
1. A good article to explain.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...num=106778#two
2. The Microsoft Tech Support for PC to Entourage issues.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
3. And a google search for you to further your investigation.

Please reply with further questions or concerns.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, it was not too helpful. The first link is to an out-of-date article (it says that Mail doesn't even support AOL email - I have provided feedback to Apple on this); the second link is broken; and there's nothing in the third that really seems relevant. I do not use Entourage. I am not familiar with .pst files. Is this how old AOL email messages are stored?
Any other advice you can give me?
Thanks
Greg

Greg:
Can you let me know if your email is all on the AOL servers, i.e. webmail access? or do you have it stored on a PC, using a mail client like Outlook, or Outlook Express?
I dbl checked that 2nd link, sorry it was dead... i copied it down wrong.
The PST files are your emails but if you have them on your PC we can get them over! We just need to know what you were using for your email client.
Warmly,

I have the AOL 9.1 software on my computer. The old emails are Saved to My PC, but I don't know where exactly they are stored.

Greg: This seems to have worked for other:
For Mac OS X users, the easiest way to transfer an AOL account's email messages, address book, and bookmarks is with the AOL Service Assistant... this application works quite well.
Download AOL Service Assistant from any of these sites:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...assistant.html http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/np..._Assistant.dmg ftp://download.newaol.com/mac/AOL_Service_Assistant.dmg http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26193
Try this out and let us know... the first link is valid from the apple site, this is a good sign.
Best,

OK so I deleted everything that was already set up in Mail and ran this Service Assistant. It looked promising until I got to the second page where the option was given to transfer saved messages in the "Personal Filing Cabinet". Unfortunately, the option was grayed out and I wasn't able to select this.
(Fortunately, the rest of the set-up went OK, and now I'm back to where I was before).

Greg:
It's getting late for me down here, i'll find out where the emails are stored and what format they are tomorrow. I hope i can figure out your issue tomorrow... but if the files are there, we'll get them!
Have a good night.
Signing off for today.
