Description:
A friend asked me to look at his performa 6400/180... it has an internal Apple Express Modem.

Do you know what the modem's speed is? Or how I can find out without opening the machine.

I poked around the control panel, but it didn't say.

Second question: What's involved in upgrading to a faster modem? The modem port is sealed off because the internal modem is inside. Does one merely remove the internal modem and add a new external modem? or a new internal one?

What's the procedure/process? He's unhappy with his connect speed .. especially using AOL 4.0

Thanks

Hi, Larry,
The internal modem is 28.8k
To get a faster one you have to remove the internal either way. For a faster internal one, just remove the 28.8k and plug in the new one. For a faster external one, remove the 28.8k, break out the plastic cover over the jack, and plug the external in. Let me know if this helped,
Thank you very much for choosing NoWonder!
