I will be travelling to Indonesia with my Titanium laptop. The Apple Store said I can use the plugs in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit for Indonesia but they could not tell me the exact plugs in this kit (are they are 2 prong ungrounded plugs?). I researched and found out ungrounded plugs used in Indonesia are #5 & #6 and grounded plugs are WA-7 & WA-9. Do you know if the plugs I need for this country are included in this kit?
Also - important - I have learned that adapting the plugs is step one for overseas use. Step 2 is the use of a voltage converter. Apple store told me that the voltage is converted automatically in the computer. Is this true? Is the white power box that plugs into the wall to power my Titanium laptop equipped to convert the voltage for Indonesia or is the power converted in the computer? Or do I need to purchase a separate voltage converter?
Part 3 of this question... I will be connecting my laptop to the phone lines in Indonesia. They only have dial up service (in Bali). Do we use rj11 phone wires to connect to dial up in the US? What phone wires/hardware do I need to connect to dial up in Indonesia?
You help is much appreciated! Just trying to take care not to injure my laptop.
question -2 The white power adapter takes care of any voltage between 100 and 240 volts, so you just need a simple plug adapter. I can't help you with what type of plug. Perhaps you have some contacts in Indonesia that could tell you. Also, a good travel agent should be able to discover that information. The World travel kit will have the adapter that you need.
I don't know anything about the modem or phone connections in Indonesia. Again, a good travel agent should have sources for that info.
