Description:
Dear NoWonder,

I tried to use the AppleScript Script Editor for the first time tonight and when I hit the Record button, I got the following message: "Could not start the script recorder because the dialect is not available." Is there an Extension or Control Panel I need to activate or something else I need to install from the OS 8 CD? I would like to get more familiar with AppleScript and how to use it, but this was not a very auspicious start to my AppleScripting career.

Thanks for your help,

Sid Watson

Hi Sid, this is jeremy from No Wonder. There are two extensions that the script editor needs active, these are "AppleScript" and "AppleScriptLib." There should also be a Folder in your System Folder titled "Scripting Additions."

Check out these sites for some good info and links to other info on AppleScript.
