Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Performa 3600
RAM: Not related
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
I'm setting-up a Performa for a computer illiterate person using At Ease.

Is there a way to script the Chooser so Appletalk will turn on by clicking the script icon? This has to be easy, but I'm not very experienced with scripting and could use some help. Thanks.

Eric,

I'm not sure I am understanding your question. Are you asking whether you can turn AppleTalk on and off using Applescript? Compared to going to the AppleTalk Control Panel. Although you can set AppleTalk to Active or Inactive in the Chooser, due to some lack of communication between parts of the system, it is best to perform this in the AppleTalk control panel, rather than the Chooser. And unfortunately, AppleTalk cannot be scripted, at least not in MacOS 8.1. This might have changed for MacOS 8.5, but I still have 8.1 and attempted this a few weeks back.

If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me directly and thanks for using No Wonder!
