I'm running OSX>10.3.9 on my PowerPC G4 and am having trouble getting Photoshop Elements 2 to run because of this error message:

Application Launch Failure
The application "Photoshop Elements" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
"%<>"

I have booted from the install disk, repaired permissions and the disk (a couple of times) to no avail.

To make matters worse, I don't have my Photoshop Elements Install Disk. (Its a long boring story why. . . but I do have my registration and serial numbers . . .).

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Welcome to macosx.com

(1) Is the Photoshop the sole application which shows this error ?

(2) do you migrate to 10.3.9 from 10.3.8 ...so, as a simple update ?
If yes, could try to install the 10.3.9 combo
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...pdate1039.html
over your existing 10.3.9 and see if this helps

Regards
Philippe

Hi Philippe!

(1) Yes, Photoshop is the sole application showing this error.

(2) Thanks for your link to 10.3.9. I successfully upgraded but unfortunately the migration didn't solve the problem. . .

Awaiting your continued assistance with this.

Thank you so much,
Charmagne

Side note:

I have been a loyal (and happy) mac user for more than 20 years. But I have to humbly admit that OSX has pretty much left me alone and in the dust . . . from the unbearable Kernel Panic Freezes (3 months of sheer misery!) to the "You do not have sufficient privileges to . . ." (hey hold on there, this is MY COMPUTER!), I have been seriously been contemplating throwing in the towel and buying a PC . . . oh what a sad day that will be - but I am an interior designer not a computer programmer .

So Philippe, I seriously thank you and this website for providing a much needed service.

Thanks for helping this old timer to keep holding on, even if only by a thread.

Charmagne, could you try to uninstall and re-install Photoshop, now you're in 10.3.9 ?

Hi Philippe, I unfortunately do not have my install disk . . . (see initial post). I was just hoping there would be a work around for this reason.

I guess I'll contact Adobe with my plight - I do have the serial number and registration data . . . maybe they'll take pity and give me a download link.

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Charmagne
