TICKET ARCHIVE -> Applications folder crashes

Trying to view the applications folder (or merely selecting it from the Macintosh HD) makes finder crash.
I've naturally tried restoring file permissions. I have removed both .localized and .DS_store through the terminal. I've disabled all start up programs and removed the last installed program (Virex)
I have no problem viewing the applications folder with another account.

Thanks a bunch for your help in advance.

DWizz, welcome on macosx.com

Try to trash the finder Preferences, as described here:

Thank you for your reply. I trashed said finder Preferences, to no resort.
I have fixed the problem through a different way now, although I can't understand what went wrong in the first place. I write this here in case you might be interested in my resolution.

I had difficulty with the program Tomato Torrent around the same time, when starting that program the dock would disappear (switching with alt-tab or F9 became imposible untill I closed the program)
I removed the program by using Spotlight to start Terminal. Removing with just rm -rf "Tomato Torrent.app" didn't work, so I used sudo.

Quicksilver now suddenly works again as well.
