All of my applications were working fine, and I downloaded some new applications. I used XsTrimmer, OnyX, Main Menu, and MacJanitor to clean up my mac. However, now GarageBand, iDVD, iMovie, iTunes, iWeb, iPhoto, and Safari aren't working. When I try to open it I get the message, "You cannot open the application [insert application] because it is not supported on the system." There is a screenshot at http://img.skitch.com/20080819-8sexr...9um3j8ccpe.jpg

Please help! Thank you very much.

The 'crossed-circle', or 'prohibited' symbol across those affected apps icons tells you why you are having problems. The icon means that the app is not supported by the system, because some needed code is missing. You allowed one or more of those utility apps to remove too much. It's one of the dangers of using some of those utilities, as they can be hazardous to your system. I recommend that you _never_ choose an option to remove code for other processors. Lots of folks get into trouble because that code may be needed by the app, even if you don't have that particular processor, and the reduction in size is usually not worth the effort. The utility is almost never intelligent enough to warn you that you are disabling an app.
The only way to get those apps to work now, is to reinstall them.
Reinstall your iLife to get iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, and GarageBand. iTunes can be downloaded directly from the Apple web site, and same for Safari. You need to have at least OS X 10.4.11 to install the Safari.
I suggest that you should also download and install the combined updater for whatever version of OS X that you currently have.
Come back here if you have more questions.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I may have misplaced my iLife box, is there any other way to get those applications? If not I might buy it again. I do have a couple more questions. I just installed Leopard, and for Time Machine, does it have to be on an external hard drive? Can it be stored on my computer? And also, whenever I insert my blank DVD (TDK, DVD-R) into my computer, it automatically ejects back out. Why does it do this? Thanks so much for your help.

You can restore the iLife apps from your original restore DVD. iLife is part of your 'bundled' apps. If you have updated to a newer iLife version, then you will need to find that iLife installer disk again.
Time Machine _could_ be used on a separate partition on your hard drive, but if your hard drive fails - then you may lose your backup, too! I think you defeat the purpose of a backup, if the backup is on the same drive that you need to protect.
Have you been able to burn a DVD-R before?
Are you certain that you have a DVD burner?
Is it only blank disks that eject?
Does a blank CD-R also eject?

I have not beenable to burn a DVD-R before. Does iTunes count as a disk burner? Yes, it is only blank disks that eject. However, my blank CD-R's don't eject and burn well with iTunes. But the DVD-R's have more memory, so I would like to use those.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, I was away for a few days!

Your 'burner' is not the software that you use (such as iTunes), but the hardware that you have in your mini. There's two different burners in a mini. One is a combo drive, which is a CD-RW, and DVD player. The combo drive will NOT burn DVDs, because it cannot.
The other drive is a SuperDrive, which is CD-R/W, and DVD-R/W. The SuperDrive will record (or burn) both CD-R, and DVD-R.

You can quickly find out which you have, by looking the at serial number label on the bottom of your mini. You will see how your mini was originally sold. You will see how much memory was originally installed, the size of the hard drive, and other information. The CD drive will have a listing either of 'combo' for combo drive (can't burn DVDs), or SuperDrive, or simply SD. That will have the capability of burning DVDs.
If you have more questions about that label, provide anything that you see on that label, and I can tell you what it means.
