The weekend is near again and I finally had time to sit down to resolve the issue we discussed last week. (http://www.macosx.com/help/qview.php?questionid=6147)

The problem now is that OS 9 wants to get install a fresh system folder and will probably delete of OS X/other programs installed.

What is the best plan of action to get around this?

Thanks.

Amar

Hi Amar

I can't read the URL you posted, but if you just want to install OS 9 on a drive that already has OS X on it, not hard and you won't lose OS X or any files.

Read this page;

OK. I read the included and it doesn't solve my particular problem.

I had OS 9.2 installed and for some reason one day (I suspect a software I installed was wrong ), the OS 9 won't startup because it cannot be found.

I am just looking to have OS 9 work without reformatting/reinstalling all my programs from OS X/9

The OS 10.3.8 (Panther) was store bought and probably leaves me with no choices except spend all weekend re-installing software -- right?

If you have Panther installed and working, you can just reinstall OS 9. No need to reformat or reinstall all your software. The page I linked to describes this.

If you are reinstalling by using a bootable Mac OS 9 Installation CD (either retail version or one included with your computer) and you need to reinstall Mac OS 9 on the Mac OS X disk, perform a clean installation by following these steps:

Start up from the CD, and open the Installer.
Click the Options button in the Installer to access the clean installation option.
Select the checkbox for clean installation.
Install the software.

If Mac OS 9 is reinstalled without issue, you may stop here.

To boot from a CD on a Mac, hold the C key down while booting.
