Description:
I have installed At Ease 3.0 and Surf Express 1.5

When I run Netscape 4.0 from At Ease, Netscape loads OK then two error screens appear --

Error occured trying to launch Surf Express

Network error occured while Netscape was sending data.

When I try to run Surf Express while in At Ease 3.0, I get an error that says Surf Express is not properly installed - reinstall. I have done this but it makes no difference.

When I disable Surf Express, Netscape 4.0 runs just fine. I have made sure that Surf Express is looking for Netsape 4.0 as the default Internet program.

Hello Robert,

Although I understand what you say you have installed, I have several questions.

1. Which Mac Operating System are you using? The reason I ask, is if it is Mac OS 8.5 you don't really need Surf Express, since SHERLOCK, which is a part of it does pretty much the same thing.

2. Did you remember to turn off any virus detection software you might have before you installed both of these programs? If not that might account for why SURF EXPRESS was not installed properly. You should also turn off AT EASE before installing SURF EXPRESS.

3. Do you understand the function of AT EASE? It is something which I believe Apple has discontinued installing. It is intended to let the primary owner of then computer to set it up so that other users cannot player around with or access the owner's software. It is by no means a necessary element to run a Mac. A lot of people who bought computers with it installed who did not feel they wanted it have removed it altogether.

It sounds like there is an extension conflict somewhere but we will have to figure out where.

Do you have any diagnostic software such as Disk First Aid or Norton Utilities? Please get back to me.
