I can only find your review of Retrospect from Dantz as a good backup software but it is pricey. Any other recommendation? I thought that Dantz also made Diskfit Pro or Diskfit Direct???

Retrospect is really worth it if you value your data; you'd pay more than twice the cost of the program to a professional data recovery place if you didn't back up.
That said, DiskFit Pro is also pretty good (but has fewer features and hasn't been updated in a while), as is Backup Mastery from CharisMac
