When I charge my iBook G4's battery, the battery information icon states that there is a 100% charge, then that percentage begins to drop rapidly after the connector is removed. Sometimes the battery icon states that the battery is fully charged and after I pull out the charger, the icon states that the battery is only at 50% even though the ring around the connector has turned green, signaling me that it is fully charged. Would that just be a faulty battery or is something deeper happening? I purchased this laptop a few days ago and the seller stated that the battery being used is about 2 months old. How long does it usually take for the battery to calibrate itself, if that even occurs.
Thanks
Try downloading this program, coconut battery and it will tell you how much juice the battery actually as. How old it is. How many times it has been charged, and how much of the battery has deteriorated.

I tried using it but I'm running OS X 10.3.9, so I can't use it. Are there any other programs that do the same thing?

That program is similar and will work for 10.3 and up.
