I just purchased a Belkin Wireless Pre-N router. I have been using a Linksys WRT54G router but was looking to make a change. I have a Tektronix Phaser 850 laser printer with ethernet port. It has worked via the router on the Linksys but when I set up the Belkin I get the message that the "Printer is not responding".

I sense that there is some small thing miissing but I don't know what it is.

To use the IP printing > LPR protocol, you need to enter both the IP address of the server plus the device queue name, which I think is lp1. You might also try the IP printing > HP Jetdirect protocol, which doesn't need a queue name entered. (Not sure if Belkin supports this).

Thanks for the reply and willingness to help. Are you speaking of the settings on the printer, computer, or router?

Sorry,
Yes, this is in Printer Setup on OS X. (If you're using Jaguar, I may have to give you more detailed instructions.) (The queue name above is el-p-one=lp1)

Thanks again but I am using Panther and I have gone into Printer Setup Utility but do not see where I can input what you have indicated.

By the way I have two printers on my list. The Phaser is the default printer but the "In Menu" box is checked off but faded while the other printer is checked off and bold. I hope that makes sense.

In Menu checked but dimmed = default printer.

To ADD using IP printing/LPR: Click ADD in Printer Setup, then in the top pull-down menu select IP printing. In the next menu select LPR. Enter server IP address and queue name. Select printer model, done.
