Knowledge Level: Beginner
Problem: Hardware
Computer Type: Apple Performa
Model: performa 6116CD
RAM: 24meg
RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: System 7.5.5

Description:
For the past few weeks, about once a week while the computer is on but not being used, my Norton Utilites brings a message up that reads something like "bit map incorrect. Should Norton Disc Dr. repair?"

If I cancel that message, and use the computer, all seems to be ok.

If I click "repair" or shut down and use my disc dr. disc and repair, it repairs the problem.

But then, about a week later, the same senario reappears.

Any ideas for me?

Thanks, Gary

Gary,

This is one error message that you need to get used to! It's very common and there's not much you can do about it, except what you are doing--running Norton and fixing the problem. If you don't fix the problem, you will eventually notice other problems ranging from A-Z.

So continue repairing...and as I say...volume bit map error is common to the Mac.
