What causes the blank boxes to appear in the Windows 98 task bar. They disappear if you click on them but they are a bit annoying.

Hi John,
The blank taskbar-button mystery is common in Windows; it happened with
'95, and it happens in '98. It seems to happen most often when installing software, or when terminating an app involves a lot of swap file usage. As far as I know, there is no known fix at this time.
