I have tried to adjust the resolution in the 'display properties' and it just makes it worse. I want to restore my desktop the way it was.

Hello CAsey and welcome to NoWonder!!

What you need to do is to go back into "display properties" and try changing the "display adapter". There is going to be alot of them to choose from, so this may take awhile. Its just trial and error. The display adapter depends on your monitor type and your graphics card. Mine has gone wackey after installing one of my kids games on here, and it took about 2 hours of trying different adapters, and different screen resolutions to get it right.
