I have just purchased a Sony bluetooth stereo system, and was wondering if it is possible to play the contents of my iTunes library or streamed radio stations. If so, how would I accomplish this. I have so far got the computer to recognize the stereo. I am using a powerbook G4 15"(1.67 GHz) running OS X version 10.4.11
I would be grateful for any help you may be able to offer.
Regards, and best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year.

If the computer recognizes the stereo as an output device, then you can set it as the output device of choice in the Sound pane of System Preferences. Then, the stereo will play all sound, including music, that exits your computer.

Thank you Ben for your prompt response and the information therein. I was able to get the computer to recognize the Sony bluetooth stereo system and successfully paired to it, but could not "connect" to it wirelessly. I have purchased an airport express base station with which I am hoping to connect to the stereo through the headphone socket on the front of the unit and send iTunes wirelessly with this set up.
Am I correct in assuming that the Mac sound pane in system prefs should pick up on the airport base station?
I apologize for not responding sooner,
Thanks again,
Regards,
Gord

Actually, no, because once you have an Express set up, iTunes will see it directly, no need to configure sound prefs manually. The problems you experienced with retraining a connection to your stereo over Bluetooth may have been buggy in OS X specifically, but I guess that's no longer moot. (If you upgrade to Leopard, all will be well on that end, too.)

Yeah, so Express will make iTunes happy. If you want to send other audio to the Express besides from iTunes, use Airfoil.
