Hi at macosx.com!

I am writing because when I try to add a printer (either from clicking on the + from system prefs > printers OR from cmdP > add Printer) I see a variety of options including: Default, Fax, IP, Windows, Bluetooth, AppleTalk, and More Printers.....

i DO NOT, however see a button for Bonjour Printers.

After googling around, I didn't find anyone else that had had this problem. I can, of course add a printer by entering it's IP address, but would like to eventually be able to have Bonjour Printing working.......

Thanks so much for your help,
Parul

You are correct that there is no button for Bonjour. When you click +, any Bonjour printer found will be displayed in the Window called Default Browser (Don't click More Printers and don't click IP printer at the top of the window).

Does that help?

hi gsahli!

that does help, but my bonjour printers are now showing up in the "default" tab. all that i get is acrobat as a pdf printer. i'm on the same network as my 3 coworkers with macs, and all of the bonjour printers show up on their machines........

ideas?

thanks so much!!

OK, we're guessing here that something is wrong in your OS X system software. These steps are based on that.
Start with Reset Printing system, a menu choice in Printer Setup Utility (Print & Fax Prefs). Do that then restart the Mac, then try Adding the printer again. (And tell me what version of OS X you're using - 10.3, 10.4, 10.5)

hi:

System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.1 (9B18)

i reset my printing system, rebooted, and now when i try to add a printer, no printers show up (no even the adobe anymore). additionally, i needed to print something so i manually added a printer with it's IP address and printed a doc, and i got a bunch of garbage.......

hmmmmm.

OK, next step - download the 10.5.1 Combo updater from Apple and re-Update with it.

(I have one or two more troubleshooting/fix steps too - come back.)

Which printer is it? are you sure it will work with Bonjour?

hmmm, no luck with the 10.5.1 Combo updater........and i think for now, i'll just be fine with adding them manually......!

thanks so much for all the help!
