I baught a demo mac book pro from Best buy (their branch called future shop.)

They had already installed the OS X.

I dont know the password for the account. so cant make changes in the system prefferences.

I have the original mac os x dvd and serial number. How can i change the password.

I havent restarted it just in this fear that it will ask me the password when i restart.

Calling them is going to take an hours hold time.

Please advise.

Shut down your MacBook Pro - don't worry, you're getting ready to provide a different password.
Get the Restore DVD ready, it will be marked disk 1
press the power button, and push the DVD into the slot. and immediately begin holding the letter C, until you see the rotating 'gear' under the grey Apple.
At the first screen, choose a language, which would be english or whatever you need, and click continue.
Next screen, choose the menu at the top of the screen "Utilities", and then choose 'Change Password', or Reset Password - or whichever shows in that menu.
Click on the hard drive name, then click on the drop-down to show the user name, which might be something to do with the store where you purchased.
Then click on Change Password, and enter your new password (twice), and click Save.
Now choose Quit from the menu
And, choose Quit again from the Installer menu , and choose to restart normally. eject that disk when you reboot.
The MacBook will stop at the login screen this time. Enter your new password, and you should be OK.
