I experiencing intermittent volume or brightness indicator (stuck on screen) on my Imac G5 display regardless of adjusting either feature. Restarting and or adjusting the settings have no bearing on clearing this nuisance.

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello Roth,

I am hoping this is just a System Preference corrupted .plist... let's try this:

Go to: MacintoshHD>Users>Library>Preferences. In the
Preferences folder locate this file
com.apple.systempreferences.plist

Drag that file to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Run Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

Get a utility such as OnyX or Cocktail from www.versiontracker.com. Either one can run Maintenance and Cleaning scripts to keep your Mac stable. OnyX is free.. both are excellent. I don't sell them, but I sure use them.

Let me know if the problem has disappeared. I've seen posts regarding this issue on the iMac G5 before. You might also glean some information on the Apple site under the Support tab for Service & Support. There are discussions boards there that Apple scans all the time. If they see this issue consistently, they will at some point write a patch. At the very least, get OnyX and use it once a week.

Post back!
Carolyn :-)
