Hi,
My daughter doesn't show up on my buddy list (no green button), and I don't show up on hers. Otherwise, we can each chat with the same people, just not with each other. I have Tiger 10.4.4 on a Powerbook G4, she has 10.4.3 on an ibook G4. We've deleted each other from the address book and re-entered, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Hermann

Check if you have accidently blocked her or if she has block you. In iChat this is done by going iChat -> Prefs. -> then click "Privacy"

Choose iChat > Preferences, click Accounts. Click Security and then select an option from the Privacy Level list.
cheers,

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. We've double checked the settings. The privacy option was "Allow people in my buddy list", no accidental blocks. The connection problem is still exactly as I described, unfortunately.

are you sure she is on your buddy list, being in your address book and being on your buddy list are two different things. Try adding her by going to the Buddies menu and clicking on Add a Buddy and then select her address book entry.
Hope this helps,

We're on each other's buddy list and also already there when we "add buddy".
The problem is that on the buddy list, her light is never on (available, idle, away). All our other buddies show up when they are online.
