How can I burn more than one session on a CD-RW or DVD-RW?
If I have to format the disc to do this, where do I go to format it?

Hi and welcome to macosx.com
(1) about multisession burning technique
http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage...urn_tiger.html http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...n/duh1749.html http://myrightbrain.wordpress.com/20...with-mac-os-x/
Other commercial or free burning tools offer the same capabilities than DiskUtility, sometimes in a more elegant and friendly way (Toast, Disco, ..)
(2) about erasing CD-RW
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61300 http://www.wellesley.edu/Computing/D...ingCD-RWs.html
DU performs a complete erase, while some other tolls (Toast,..) can performed a quick erase which requires that the tool whihc has erased the drive will be use for the next burning on the erased media
Thers is no way to erase a single session among the whole set of multisessions
(3) You cannot burned multisessions on DVDs
(4) Beside DU, BurnXFree (
http://www.hernansoft.com/products.html) is on the best free tool for burning multisessions

Thanks. I will check these out. I must say I am dissapointed that I can't burn multiple sessions since I paid an addtional $200 to get the super drive just for that single reason.
i do have an Iomega burner that will let me do that; I was trying to avoid hooking up another periphial.
Another is a list of "can't do's" for the Mac.

Well, not on DVD but yes on CD
The big danger of multisessions disc is taht, if the burning of a session fails for any reason, all the previous burned sessions are gone !!
So..
* less than 400MB -> on an USB flash drive
* above, I burn CDRs or DVDrs
With the so little price of single CDRs or DVDRs, I never burn any multisession discs in my life..
