how do you do multiple cd or dvd burning on a mac? My friends tell me that its easy to do on windows. Is there a way that I can say burn a few files onto a cd/dvd and use it, and then add more stuff to at a later date?

Hello zalmy,

thanks for making use of macosx.com and I hope I can help you out.

Multisession burning (as it is often known) is perfectly possible and the instructions for how to do it with nothing but what came with your Mac are here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107240

However most of us consider that all a bit of a drag to be honest.

Tools like Toast or DragonBurn etc make it possible and easier to make multiple sessions but they cost real money...

Simply Burns is a FOSS disk burning tool which supports some multisession formats (in your case I suspect you would want only HFS+ which would be fine) and it is available here http://simplyburns.berlios.de (Simply Burns requires Tiger)

Finally not free but not as much money as say Toast is BurnAgainDVD from here http://freeridecoding.com/burnagaindvd/

I hope that one of these solutions helps you out - personally I would start by looking at SimplyBurns and if you find that is not sufficient for your needs consider one of the more expensive options afterwards.

If this helped let me know, if not come back and I we will work on the matter some more.
