I have a wireless router (Linksys WRT54GS v5) which my minimac can see (the bars at the top show strong signal strength) but when I try to open a webpage it says that I am not connected to the internet. My other computers (including a laptop PowerBook G4 all work fine off the wireless router. Any ideas? I am new to macs (within the last 1.5 years) and not a sophisticated user.

Aaarrrgggghhhh!
All my long response lost!

You may be connected to the wireless router, but if you have not been allocated a valid IP address, then you will not be able to connect to the internet and you get that message.

You can try turning off airport for a few minutes, then turning it on again - click on the radar icon in the top bar.

Then go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES and open NETWORK
Click on the SHOW pull-down menu and select AIRPORT
Click on the TCP/IP tab

CONFIGURE IPV4 should say DHCP nd you should have a string of numbers for IP ADDRESS, SUBNET MASK and ROUTER, but not necessarily for DNS SERVERS

The SUBNET MASK, ROUTER and DNS SERVERS settings should be the same as your PowerBook, but the IP address should be unique.

Post back here with the numbers on both your mini and your powerbook.

There are some other things we can try, but do this first and let me know how you get on.
