Having problem printing from Quark. Every time I went to File, Print or File, Page set up. There is alter message "Cannot open the printer (64). Have reinstalled Quark, but the problem still exists. I'm using MacOS 10.3.5. on Power mac G4. Need you help please...
Hi, This is easy: make sure you have installed the OS 9 version of your printer's drivers. Quark is a 9 application, as you know.
Next, save up and buy yourself a copy of Adobe InDesign, a modern page layout program that opens all Quark files and runs in OS X.
A buddy of mine has spent several years working for a big company that does software installations and support for newspapers and other big publishing firms. He tells me that for the past two years, requests for Quark have declined to just one, while everyone else is moving over to InDesign!
If you are a real Quark a holic, then you can even choose to remap the InDesign keyboard shortcuts to match the ones you are used to using in Quark.
Have a fast broadband connection? Go over to Adobe's site and get a free one month trial of InDesign. (Big download).
No, I don't work for Adobe! But Quark's "we're IT" attitude has left a lot of users cold.
