Hello!

I have a HP Deskjet 3920 and cannot install it. I've tried some of the built-in drivers. I've tried HP drivers versions: 2.1.7, 3.0.1 and the current 3.0.3 (I might not have those numbers exactly right.) Anyway, I've deleted the printer prefrences, the old printer dirivers, everthing HP.

The apple discussion forms have been no help. Google also has failed me. Please help. I'd like to print. (I'd love to be able to hook the printer up to my airport Express but that's not _needed_.)

Thanks for your help!

Greg

What version OS X?
For troubleshooting, try adding the printer using the HP Deskjet 900 Series driver.

The latest: 10.4.9

I tried installing using the HP Deskjet 900 Series (gimp v.5) and I get this error:

"client-error-request-value-too-long"

Thanks

I don't know what that error means, but please try Reset Printing System, a menu item in Printer Setup.

Still get the same error. I have no idea what it means either. It's got me completely stumped...

Unix (like OS X) unfortunately has 100,000+ files. But we don't have tools to figure out which is corrupted or missing! That's why the fall-back method is often "reinstall OS X." Except for one last try downloading the Combo 10.4.8 Updater, my last recommendation is reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer to preserve your user files and most apps.

Okay, It's working. For the record here's what I did:

I used MacPilot (It was recently given away at: macappaday.com) to clear pretty much ever cache, rebuild everything, repair permissions, etc. I cleaned up everything. Ran the crons. Shut down the computer, turned it on and added the printer using the 900 series (gimp v.5 beta) and it's working.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate your time.

God bless!
