I cant read them on this mac. THey work fine in the pc or on another mac 10.4.4?/ very stumped.

Yes movie dvd's work. Cd work even ones i burn. The dvd i burn will work on other computers. Hope this help.

sorry been away i can read movie dvd. By file dvd do you mean like files on the disk no that is what I ws trying to do. I just wont red any dvd i burn. I have tried toast and mac os x to burn them dose not seam to mater. Just had a thought i sould go burn a dvd on anothe mac and see if that will read.

There are a number of similar tickets open with the same problem.
I am guessing that this is a software issue.
What happens when you put the DVD in the machine?

the disk spins up but and then it gives up. then i can eject the disk. Now in toast it will reconize that i but in a blank dvd. Now if i burn the disk in toast it eill mount after burn as long as i dont eject the disk.

I have an idea i am going to remove the drive from my g5 and place it in a firewire case to see if it will worn on othe computers.
