I am logged in as the only user account created on my G4 here at work. I need to reinstall Fireworks MX and it asks for my usr/word and I type it in and then it gives me an error message saying I need higher priviledges or admin access. This is crazy because I am logged in as the admin. I double checked in account setup and it clearly states 1 user and admin right below it.

This is not the first time this has happened. Before this sysytem was wiped clean and all new apps were installed, Fireworks wouldn't start and it wouldn't let me reinstall it either.

This is the only app that i have issues with.

Are you trying to install the most recent version of FireWorks? Or is it an older version?

Thanks,

I am trying to re-install Fireworks MX 2004. The same one that was on my computer. I uninstalled it thinking that I would be able to reinstall it. I decided to reinstall because the application would not start. Now the same thing is happening to Dreamweaver. It will not start.

So I have 2 issues: macromedia apps will not start
and my computer says I don't have enough priviledges to re-install software.

I am running os x 10.3.9
G4

I would try repairing your permissions. Goto the utility folder located in the applications folder. From there you should be able to select your computer's main HD, and then tell it to repair disk & repair permissions. You might want to try repairing the permissions 2 or 3 times. After that try and install your Macromedia software again.

Thanks,
Paul Fletcher

THANK YOU!!!! It worked! I am so thrilled. I was running out of answers. Thank you so much for your help!

Only a few months ago my HD was completely rebuilt, new installs.. so why is it that the permissions get all messed up so easily? Before the HD was wiped clean, there were all sorts of permissions errors too. It sounds like this may have to be a regular maintenance thing?

Anyway, thanks again and have a fabulous day!

Best Regards,
michelle

Glad to hear it worked. I repair my permissions once a month, you might want to do the same. I have no clue why they get messed up.

Thanks,
Paul Fletcher
