Hello,
I installed Gimpshop but an error that says
"Gimp.app requires X11 from the "Optional Installs" package on the OS X installs disc."
shows up. I tried installing X11 on my Mac(Tiger) many times but i cant get it working. Could you please help me?

Can you tell me what happens when you click on the X11 icon (either in your dock or in Applications > Utilities)?

I dont have the X11 icon in the Utilities folder even though I installed it many times by X11SDK.pkg.

Then maybe you aren't installing X11. X11SDK.pkg would be the Software Developer's Kit. Look some more in the DVD for the X11 package. I don't have a Mac at work, so I won't be able to give you exact guidance until I get home.

I find two receipts for X11 - X11User.pkg and X11Update2006.pkg.

As far as I can tell, X11User is one of the selectable subsections in the regular Install Mac OS X.

I don't have X11User.pkg and X11Update2006.pkg. I searched the whole computer but I could not find any. Is it possible to download from a site?

The Update will be available in Software Update after the X11User package is installed.

I know two ways to do that:
The first is to startup with the OS X install DVD and run the installer. When you get to the point where the "Customize" button is available, select X11 and de-select all else you can (You will be reinstalling some system files). After that, download the 10.4.11 Combo updater and re-update with that to be sure your system is completely up to date.

The second way is to use the shareware "Pacifist" to find and install just the X11User.pkg. Pacifist is available on www.versiontracker.com.
