I have a G4 eMac and updated to 10.4.10.

With Toast 8, I can burn CDs, see blank DVDs and burn them, but cannot see my burnt DVDs afterwards. The mac tries to read them but then ejects the tray. Pre recorded DVD movies work OK.

Have you any ideas, please?

Have you tried a different DVD or a different brand of DVD? Did that help?

If not, I'd be happy to help you.

Hello Leonard,

Yes, but that doesn't help.

The problem seemed to start after upgrading to 10.4.10.

Basically, if I burn some data (say AVI film) onto a blank DVD, with toast, it will initially mount after burning by selecting that option in Toast, but after ejecting, the mac doesn't want to know it and makes a noise for a bit and then ejects the recorded disk.

I can put it into my G4 iBook and it reads OK.

Please help.

Many thanks

Bill

Bill,

The problem could be in the settings you have in Toast when you burn the DVD.

Do you have write session selected or write disk? If you have write session selected, the disk is not completed.
"Write Session" which will record as a session, and leave the disc open for
additional sessions to be written at a later time.
"Write Disc" which will close the disc, and not allow additional sessions to be
written at a later time.

Does Toast go through the Verification process without any errors?

What kind of media are you using? There is a difference between DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW media. Your DVD drive may not like the DVD+R and the DVD+RW.
