Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Iomega or Apple
Model: Zip drove/6300
RAM: Not related
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: System 7.5.5

Description:
I cant back up my hard drive to my zip drive. I use diskfit direct and the problem just started. I get a -23 error message. I have tried using another zip disk and another Zip drive and get the same message. Dantz (diskfit direct) says is a IO problem, but even when i switched zip drives i got the same results.
I have backed up before to zip drives. I ran Norton Disk Doctor-I optimized the disk and defragmented and I still get the same results

Dear Alan,

Dantz has officially discontinued the DiskFit line of software, and are encouraging DiskFit users to try Dantz Retrospect instead. They've chosen to discontinue DiskFit because it can't handle the larger hard drives that most new computers are sold with these days. It's probably a good idea for you to try Retrospect, especially if you've replaced the original hard drive in your 6300 with a larger one.

You might also consider whether you've recently installed any software which might conflict with DiskFit Direct. A low-level software conflict might prevent DiskFit from writing to your Zip drive.

Good luck,
Beth (beths@nowonder.com)
