Just upgraded to Tiger.
I wanted to add my phone to iSync but iSync would not recognize it so I turned to the forums here to solve the problem.
I opened iSync using spotlight.
Now...I cant find iSync anywhere on my computer. I try to open
iSync.pkg to intall it again but it tells me there is an error and cannot install.
Anyway to reinstall only iSync? any other suggestions?

Caleb,
iSync should be in the Applications folder on your hard drive. If doing a search does not find the application but finds other files, you will need to delete those files.
Go to Home>Library>preferences. Trash the com.apple.iSync.plist and com.apple.iSync.registry.plist.
Go to Home>Library>Logs and trash the Sync folder.
Go to Hard drive>Library>Receipts. Trash the iSync package if there is one. the receipt folder holds the packages that have been installed. They are not installers.
Now go to:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/isync.html
Download and install that version. Give it a try.

Caleb,
You now need to go to the Applications>Utilities folder. Start up Disk Utility.
When it opens, click on the second icon at the top left, then click on Repair Permissions. The Repair Drive will be grayed out. Do not worry about what permissions are corrected.
Once done, quit Disk Utility and give iSync a try.

Caleb,
One more thing. Go to System Preferences>Software Update. See if iSync needs an update.

i REALLY appreciate all of you help. no updates are needed (im pretty good keeping up on those). however, the isync continues to pop up and then disappear...even after going through the last process.
i went to applications>utilities. clicked on disk utility. when it opened i clicked on hard drive. on the very top left it reads: burn, new image, etc. i figured this is not what you meant.
in a different window it reads 232.9GB WDC... and indented below that it reads Macintosh HD. and then my ipod, etc. i clicked on Macintosh HD and then repair permissions. the same problem remains...im lost?

Caleb,
Try this:
Quit iSync if it's running.
Open your Mac OS X 10.4 hard disk volume.
Open the Library folder.
Open the Application Support folder.
Open the SyncService folder.
Open the 500-numbered folder that you have access to (this is a user ID number, so don't worry about it). It's OK if you see more than one folder but only have access to one of them.
Move any files that have "iSync" in their name to the Trash.
Empty the trash, then give it a try.

Caleb,
Something is not right. It should have worked. There is one more thing to do and that is to reinstall OS 10.4 using the Archive and Preserve method. This will not touch your applications or home folder, but will install a fresh system folder along with iSync, Safari, etc.
First, go to Home>Library>Preferences and trash all the com.apple.iSync.plist files.
Home>Library>Applications support and trash the SyncServices folder.
Hard Drive>Library>Sync Services>501 and trash the file in there.
Empty the trash.
Now:
Start up from your Mac OS X Install DVD.
Select your language. The Welcome to the Mac OS X Installer window appears.
Click Continue. The Important Information window appears.
After reading or printing the information, click Continue. The Software License Agreement window appears.
After reading or printing the information, click Continue.
An agreement sheet appears. If you agree with the license agreement, click Agree. The Select a Destination window appears.
Click the volume that you wish to install to.
Click Options. The installation options sheet appears.
Select Archive and Install.
Select the volume which already has Mac OS X installed.
You should also select Preserve Users and Network Settings, to preserve network and Home directory settings.
Click on Custom to make sure you install your printer driver.
Click OK.
Click Continue to begin the installation.
After the restart, go to Applications>Utilities and start up Disk Utility. Click on the second icon at the top left, then click on Repair Permissions.
You will need to reinstall Stuffit Expander and anti virus if you have it.
Now try using iSync.
