Today i bought a HP Deskjet D1341 and a D-link DP-301U Print server to be hooked up together and be printed from both windows and mac computers over both hard wire and WI-FI. Both macs are over wi-fi but i have tried both hard wired and it makes no difference. Usb Printing works perfectly. I have gotten the windows computers to print no problem of course but my G4 Powermac and My Ibook cannot print to it. I have set it up with generic print driver, the HP New Deskjet Series CUPS v1.1 driver and the HP Deskjet 1220C driver all unsucessful. The print queue says they are completed but nothing prints. Help.

Please tell me exactly how you set up the printer in Printer Setup. Have you read the manual to see exactly which protocol(s) are supported?
The generic driver means generic postscript, so that one isn't applicable to your printer. The Deskjet Series and Deskjet 900 Series are the ones to try.

Ok i have it setup pointing to the IP 192.168.2.15 which is manually set through that print server. I have tried it with the following drivers...
-Generic (which i understand doesnt work)
-Hp Laserjet 1300 (on accident i saw 1300 and selected it without paying attention)
-Hp Deskjet 900 Series, 2000 Series, 1200C, 1220C, 1000c_Foomatic
-HP New Deskjet series CUPS v1.1
-HP Deskjet Series CUPS v1.1(This One Seemed to start working but just sat there and never did anything)
Several times i have seen the light on the print server blinking as to denote activity and yet nothing ever gets to the printer.

Can you please tell me exactly how you set up the printer in Printer Setup Utility? There are three IP printer protocols, for example - which did you use? What did you enter for queue name?

I have tried it through bonjour, apple talk, IPP and HP Jet Direct.

In the downloadable Install manual (which is for Windows, I realize) they show you where to get the queue name that must be entered in OS X Printer Setup. See pages 5 and 7 and the notes about writing down the port name (same as queue name).
It looks like LPD (=line printer daemom, = line printer = LPR) and IPP are supported. HP Jetdirect isn't, and Bonjour is only supported after a firmware update. For both IP printer > LPD and IP printer > IPP, you need to find that port name (queue name) in the print server's web page, and enter it in Printer Setup.
Use HP Deskjet 900 Series as your primary driver choice and try again.

The only thing I see immediately is the case of the queue name - should be all upper.
Unfortunately, I have no way to know/test any better driver choice, but you should check out the hpijs plus ESP ghostscript driver set from:

Thank you so much for your help after calling d-link and being told first that hes glad its not a hard question like i was stupid then he flat out said that they dont know how to fix mac problems and i had to call back later to talk to a superior tech support manager to get my problem sorted out. So i was playing with it and got it to work after putting in a location description and doing it under ldp. Thank you so much for all of your help.
