Hi to everybody at Mac OS X (and thanks for such a cool service!)--

I just got a LaCie external USB cd burner to use with my iBook G3 which runs OS X. I have attempted to burn cd's both from iTunes and from ToastLite. Each time, I get the message that the disk I am attempting to use is full (when it is a fresh, blank disc). I have tried several brands, including name-brands, of blank cd-r's. I've tried upgrading to the latest version of iTunes. When I go into the Apple System Profiler, my computer lists the proper cd burner in the proper (external USB) place.

It's also worth mentioning that I can burn cd's with 4 tracks or so, but not full-length ones. I know that the burner works then, but not how to make it compatible with my computer.

Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you tried upgrading to the latest version of Toast Lite?
When you go to iTunes preferences/Burning tab, what is showing next to CD Burner? This will be showing the burner that iTunes would be trying to use. Keep in mind that a USB burner is not going to give you too much. You are limited by the USB 1.1 bus on your iBook. For example, the upper limit for speed on a USB burner will be 4X at the most, regardless of the capability of the burner.
Your Apple System Profiler should also list some other information about your burner, such as being a Supported burner.
You can also check at the LaCie web site for possible FAQs that mention your situation.
