Was playing Tiger Woods 2003. Game locked up (not the first time) and had to do a hard reset on my G4 to bring the computer back online. Ran OS X Jag CD and Disk Utility to check for errors and found Overlapping Extent Allocation files that OS X Disk repair could not fix. Ran Disk Warrior, it gave several warnings about replacing and removing some files but damage looked minimal. I went ahead with the directory replacement.

Now the Tiger Woods game, Illustrator, Photoshop, Explorer, Microtek programs nor Acrobat will respond. Have tried to run applications from dock and icon in applications folder. Makes no difference. Both have same response. A quick noise from hard drive and nothing. I deleted prefs from pref folder under Library and emptied trash. Still no response from any of these apps. Apple programs seem to work fine, Mail, Safari, IDVD, Itunes, etc. All the folders, icons, etc still show for the apps that won't run. I don't want to reinstall and don't even know how to reinstall Explorer without reinstalling Op Sys.

Please advise.

Thanks....

Do you run Repair Permissions? (Disk Utility) at least once a month? Sometimes this can help you for avoiding these problems.

I used to use the Repair Permissions feature quite frequently until someone told me that it could make problems even worse so I have avoided it for sometime now. Everything has been working great other than the occasional Tiger Woods lockup. Very few to no disk errors. I had not seen an Overlap Extent Allocation file in a long time as well.

I did try to repair permissions. Still same problem. Any ideas. If I need to, I can reinstall my Adobe programs. I do not however know how to reinstall Explorer without doing a complete OS reinstall. I would really like to avoid reinstalling anything. Especially the complete wipe clean/install OS part. There has to be a way to make these programs active again. I even tried opening native photoshop and illustrator files. Nothing.

Please advise. Your advise and help is greatly appreciated....
