When saving as a .pdf file from the print menu, my system sometimes saves in Preview mode and sometimes in Acrobat 7.0 mode. I WANT it to save in Acrobat 7.0 What is the relationship between the two programs? Is there a way to have Acrobat be the default reader?
Thanks!

Hi, Diane.
I'm not entirely certain why some of your PDFs are opening with Preview and some with Acrobat. It could have something to do with the different programs. Anyway, I believe that since PDFs are a very common file format anymore, Apple wanted to let you view them without having to download a third party program (namely Acrobat) so they made Preview be able to open PDFs.
To make a long story short (oh, too late!), to have the files always open in Acrobat, click on one of the PDF files that are opening in Preview, select File - Get Info (or press Apple - I). Under "Open with" choose Acrobat then press the "Change All" button. It will bring up a window to confirm that you want to do this. Press "Continue."
Some of your file icons may still look like they are going to open with Preview, but if you double-click on them, they should open in Acrobat.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the quick reply. I opened a PREVIEW-generated pdf and couldn't follow the instructions - the choices under FILE are OPEN/OPEN RECENT/CLOSE/SAVE AS/EXPORT/PAGE SETUP/PRINT
No GET INFO. COMMAND "I" does nothing either.Perhaps I'm not reading your instructions right?

Yeah, there was just one thing that you missed. Don't open it or double-click on it. Just click on it once so that the file is selected. You should still be in Finder and not any other program. Then do File - Get Info.

That worked Leigh! You're fabulous - and saved me tons of frustration to boot. Thanks a million.
