Model:
RAM: 32meg
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
The chooser on my Mac G-3 266mhz cpu keeps forgetting the settings that I place in it and I get an error message that the port is already in use when I try to print or use the modem after a fresh startup. Once I open the chooser and reset everything, it works fine until I shutdown and restart.

I also have a problem with an MCC Controller that was apparently loaded when I installed software for my new US Robitics 56K modem. It grabs the phone line everytime my phone rings. I have taken ecry reference that I can find to this and trashed it but it must be hidden down deep some place because it is still raising havic.
How can I get rid of this program? I never use my G-3 to send or recieve faxes so don't need it.

Thank for your assistance.

Hi welcome to Nowonder

For your printer go into your Apple Talk control panel and set it to Remote Only. Then go to the chooser and reset the printer.

If there is any fax software left in the computer this can be grabbing the printer port and causing the problem, but with remote only selected it wont allow the fax to take over.

Now for the fax had the same problem irritating. I think I had to turn off about ten different things to get it to stop. But for you try using the find file - type in fax or U.S. Robotics or Mcc Controller to see if you have anything left. But before trashing use the get info to see if it is for the fax or the modem. Or just pull out and set on desktop then restart to see if the modem is effected. Best regards sharona@nowonder
