Knowledge Level: Expert but stumped
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: 6400/200
RAM: 48meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
Claris Emailer was pulling down the mail when all functions stopped! Now, everytime I try to start Emailer (2.3) the computer locks up. So, I replaced the pref - still locks up. I took the entire program and placed it in the trash - then I tried to reload the program from original software - now - it will not read disk 1 of Claris emailer - it wants to reformat it. Then, I placed the backup copy - yes - I back up - on and restarted the program from the backup copy - again - everything locks up. I have to hit the reset switch on the tower just to restart it. This is a puzzler.
Everything else works perfectly except Emailer. I also ran Norton Disk Doctor and it is reading no problem with any files. Any ideas. Thanks.
Note - I can't reload from original disks because disk 1 won't be accepted for some reason!
Send Attachments? Yes
Was this the first time you tried using Emailer? Were you downloading an attachment before this started? Are you using the lite version or the commercial application:
If using Emailer 2.0:
You apparently have some type of conflict going on with another application. Delete the currently installed verion. Make sure you remove everything including preferences. Reinstall the application again with extensions off. When you restart, only have System Only and PPP connections enabled. Connect to the Internet and download the v2.0.3 upgrade at
http://www.claris.com/software/softw...Claris+Emailer. Once downloaded, install with extensions off. Restart with System Only and PPP, see what happens.
It appears that your Emailer disk is bad. The reformatting question appears when your Mac cannot read the contents on the disk. You may have to purchase replacements from Apple (Claris is not selling Emailer anymore.)
For Emailer Lite:
You need to be using the latest update which is v1.1.4. This is available at the above web address as well.
Another tip for Emailer 2.0
When you boot up Emailer for the first time, hold down the Option key. It will ask you if you want to rebuild the Emailer database, choose yes.
