I have just upgraded my G4 from 10.2.8 to 10.4.3
Now classic won't start, whereas it did previously.
I have 9.1 on the same boot drive as Tiger.
I get a message when I try to launch classic that says that my QT version in sys 9 is not recommended and I should upgrade to 6.03 or later. The progress bar then doesn't progress.
I have downloaded QT 6.03, but how do I install it? Boot in sys 9 and then run the installer? I also see I can do two further updates to take the system to 9.2.2 - should I do this also/instead?
Or should I, as someone has suggested, completely re-install system 9? How do I do this, so it will be recognised by Tiger?
Hope this is clear.
Thanks

Well I didn't mean to but I have now updated QT in my 9.1 folder, so that message has gone away, but classic still doesn't boot using Tiger.
If I boot my machine into 9.1, and then create a new, clean system 9 folder, perhaps taking it up to 9.2.2, will this then be 'recognised' by Tiger when I re-boot in OSX, and potentially solve whatever is stopping it launching classic? Or is this likely to be some other issue?
Thanks

Hi Xgipper
Take a look at this Apple doc and see if it helps;
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106678
I would also upgrade to 9.2.2.

Have upgraded a 9.1 sys on another drive to 9.2.2, and it will now boot with this, so I will also attempt to upgrade the 9.1 folder on my main boot drive, where my OSX system resides and hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks.
The other issue I have since upgrading to Tiger is when I launch Tiger I also get an error saying:
The application "Transport Monitor" could not be launched because of a global library error "8 <>" - or similar (shame you can't print out these messages). And now I can't hotsync with my Sony Clie, using Palm Desktop, when I used to be able to . I'm wondering if I need to copy something from my archived 10.2.8 folder to solve this one?
Or should I start a new ticket with that one?
Cheers

This error message, "Transport Monitor" is coming from Palm Desktop. Palm Desktop and Missing Sync need to be reinstalled.
1) Uninstall Missing Sync
2) Uninstall Palm Desktop
3) Reinstall Palm Desktop
4) Install Missing Sync
Transport Monitor is a portion of iSync
You may want to try to reinstall iSync

Thanks Bob.
I never had to use Missing Sync before - it worked ok without it. Do you think it's necessary under Tiger then?
How do I uninstall Palm Desktop - just delete it and re-download? How do I reinstall iSync - from a custom install off the Tiger disc?
Cheers

Xgipper
If it works without it, I wouldn't worry about it.
Palm, just drag to the trash.
iSync, yes, do a Custom install from the Tiger disc.

That seems to have done the trick, touch wood, and without worrying about iSync - just trashed Palm and re-installed.
Thanks for your help.
