Hi
I probably have very stupid question, but I did not find the answer anywhere:

is it possible to run remotely the cocoa application through SSH as the xserver application?

(When I connect form A (10.4) to B (10.4) by ssh -Y and try to open cocoa application App.app/Contents/MacOS/App then it is open on B mashine and not on A. When I do /usr/X11R6/bin/xcalc then it is open on A machine)

I am just curious if it is possible and how (I do not want to use VNC, or any other remote desktop solution)

Thank you for any help and answer.

Hi Jiri,
Thanks for using macosx.com. Yours is not a stupid question at all! I understand what you're trying to do, and I believe the only solution is to use Apple Remote Desktop. It's a proprietary application that uses Cocoa's graphics primitives rather than X11. In addition, it only works on Apple computers, so you'll be unable to use Linux or other Unix variants. Here is a link to the product:

http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop

The 10 client pack is available for $299.
I hope this answers your question.

Regards,
Paul

Thank you,
ARD seems as really strong solution - but it seems to me more as VPN style (graphics) solution. I did not study whole site well but can I do some SSH cocoa magic with it - or something similar (just see the "remote" application window on my desktop?
It is not cheep to try ...

Thanks you again.
