Description:
Put the Monitor and Sound preferences folder and the Finder preferences file in the trash and reboot and this may solve your problem.

In response I tried this and it did not work. In collapsing my windows I hear no sound. The box is clicked in appearance on the control panels. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

Every other sound function on my computer is working...........

Chuck,
I usually have the sound on my Mac muted because it disturbs my family. I use headphones instead when I need sound. However, after reading your problem, I tried the collapsing window thing and-voilå-no sound! Went to Appearance and Monitors/Sound Control Panels, but all seemed well. Remembered that I had set the sound in my After Dark 4.0 Control Panel to mute. Turned that mute off. Restarted. Collapsing window sound is back. If you've got After Dark or something else which can mute your sounds, give them a look. I hope this helps.
