I'm running OSX 10.3.8 -- does anybody know how to get column view to list files by "date last modified," or by listing folders together and other documents together? Thanks, Buz.

Change to List view, which has all types of options for how files are listed. You can list by Kind, which keeps folders together, if the 'Windows-way' is to your liking.
Column view is most useful for quickly discovering the contents of folders, and not (IMHO) useful for permanent display. Kind of a 'Click-there it is!' for folders... Just my opinion, of course. I'm just not a great fan of MS and how they want to list files. - 'scuse my rant...

Thanks Dale, I feel the same way about MS -- and didn't know that column view originated with them. Column view is the fastest way to get around for me, but sometimes I want to source stuff I've worked with recently and don't want to have to sift through tons of files -- its just easier to see it at the top of the list. But I'll survive, Buz.

I didn't mean to imply that Win is the source for column view. I meant the strange way that Windows lists files with the folders first. Just seems a little non-useful for a long-time Mac user like myself. So that's my little opinion...
