I am trying to burn my movie onto a DVD-R but when the DVD is formatted it only holds approx 4.3GB and I can't get my movie down to less than 4.6GB. Do you have any suggestions how to compress further. I note you say a DVD-R holds 4.7GB but that is unformatted? Please give me any advice you might have. I'm using Mac the Ripper and Toast. Many thanks!

Ljv, welcome to macosx.com

Toast7, in its Video Tab have a "fit-to-DVDr compression toggle" which allow you to compress the VIDEO_TS folder MTR has ripped to fin on a 4.6GB

I do not know if Toast 6 has this feature because at this time, I was using the chain MTR->Popcorn and Pocorn had this "fit to dvdr". Now PopCorn is included in Toast 7

Toast 5 has not this capability

Philippe
