Hi. I have a powerbook g4. Recently it has been very slow and having trouble with some programs, ie: photoshop/ dreamweaver. Then the internet was freezing, the pinwheel would stay up for minutes and I would have to restart my computer. (this has all been happening over the past 4-5 days)

Right now my computer will not turn on at all. It makes the sound like it has been turned on, then the screeen turns blue and the white little pinwheel clockish symbol comes up as if it is loading normally, However, the computer fails to ever come to the login screen, and the wheel keeps turning. Please give me some advice!!!!

thanks so much in advance.

Hi Jessica

Boot off your System disc (CD) by holding the C key down.

When you get to the Installer window, go up to the Installer Menu to Disk Utility.

Run Repair Disk on your hard drive.

If it runs and there are any errors, write them down and let me know what they are.

You posted that you have OS X 10.1. This is the original OS X system and not very good.

I would suggest considering upgrading to 10.3

Hi Bob.

Thanks for helping. After running the repair disk, It says there was a repair attempted on 2 volumes 1 HFS volume was repaired and 1 volume could not be repaired. In red letters it reads: Invalid Leaf Count (it should be zero instead of 126).

What now?

Thanks,

Jessica

Now it's time to get DiskWarrior. It's the only program that may repair this damage.

The alternative would be to reformat the drive, which will completely erase it, but bring it back to like new condition.
