Hi,
how can I convert .SGN files to EPS files? Is there a way of automating this process? (I have around 1500 sgn files...)
The sgn files come from windows 3.1, I have no clue what program. The people who the files belong to already spend ages converting files on the windows machine, however, I thought that there might be a way to speed this up. Is there?
Thanks already,
Dominik

Howdy!
You might want to poke around the Sign Write website:
http://www.signwriting.org/
I'll look a little (workin so a bit busy) but this site has a Downloads/Software page here which might give you a converter:

Have you tried opening your .sgn files in photoshop or illustrator?

Oops. This is more correct:

It's a VERY BASIC Microsoft drawing program (clip art, bleargh!)
Their website doesn't list the product anymore, but you could try calling the company that owns the software, SierraHome:

Let me know if this helps.

Looks like in the 2003 version you can't convert directly to pdf:

You might have to print .ps files of each file and then distill to pdf. I think you could create an action for that…

Hi Nathaniel,
thanks for your replies... but the files which I have are not some language for deaf people, but actual logos. They need to be converted into something more modern, which remains more or less esitable. (vectorized) Preferably it shouldn't cost anything. I also had a look, but all I could find were the sign-type programms...

Look at my second try at it…
The conclusion is that .sgn files are created by a $30 graphics program by SierraHome called Sierra Print Art with no pdf support (you can't export to pdf). So I recommend trying to open the files in a different program that reads vector files such as adobe illustrator.
