I am considering switching from a pc to a Mac. If I do switch, is there a way for me to use .MAC mail without changing my existing email address (an "...msn.com address)that my contacts see? For example, can I have new emails to/from my contacts be forwarded through my existing email address to my new .Mac mail address, so that the switch to .Mac mail is invisible to my contacts?
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Steve,
You don't need a .mac account or even use the .mac email address (if you using .Mac for other features). I have a .Mac account for syncing, but don't use the .Mac email, I have my own mail accounts I use for that.
You should be able to use MSN account just as you do now, be it through web mail or through a mail application like mail.app as a standard POP/IMAP connection.

Scott:
Thanks for your response. When I read it, I realized that my original question was a bit too vague. I have been able to access my MSN email account via web mail, in addition to via MSN Premium. However, going through web mail does not allow me to access MSN emails that I have stored on my computer drive. Also, your response mentioned synching. I very much would like to be able to use a hand-held device (e.g. an IPhone) that synchs to the Mac.
So, in addition to being able to maintain my current email address, my other key objectives are as follows:
1) To be able to access/manage emails, including attachments, on a synchronized basis, from both the Mac and an IPhone.
2) To be able to store/access/manage select emails on my computer hard drive.
I need to add that I do not currently use a hand-held (e.g. a Blackberry), so I am not familiar with their capabilities and limitations.
Given the additonal info regarding my objectives, could you pls. let me know your thoughts as to what can be done, and how to do it?
Thanks.
Steve
