Hello,
How can I copy dvd on an external DVD-burner. When I put the Audio_ts and the video_ts in the folder of the dvd-burner, it;s possible to play the dvd on my mac, but not on a normal dvd-player. Do I need a special program or do I just something wrong?
Kind regards Jeroen

Hi, Jeroen.
You need to burn the disk in a different way to make it playable on a DVD player. Basically, there are two ways to burn a disk. The first way is to burn it as data - this is what you are doing - and it will only open on a computer. The second way is to burn as a UDF disk which will allow the DVD player to read the information in the Video_TS folder and play it.
In order to tell you how to correctly burn the disk, what program are you using to do the burning? If you are using Toast 6 (or higher), click on the Data tab, then select "Advanced" on the side panel. Select DVD-ROM (UDF) then burn away!
If you are using Disk Utility, there are a few more steps that we can go over. Just let me know if you are burning your disk this way.

Hello Leigh,
At this moment I made a copy via Finder, copy paste in the folder of the empty dvd and press burn. It's my first time I tried to burn a dvd. It would be nice if it's possible to burn dvd's without an extra program. Just because it's an extra program again, but if it's has to be then...
Thanks for your advice so far.
Jeroen.

Jeroen,
The good news is that you don't need to get an extra program. Toast is just a little easier to use since it gives you more options with less hassle. You can use Disk Utility which comes with your Mac to do the same thing, though.
Here are the steps that you will need to do:
First make sure that you have at least about 12 gigs available on your computer.
Open Disk Utility and select the "New Image" icon. Type in a name - it can be something very generic. Under "Size" select "4.7 GB (DVD-R/DVD-RAM)." The "Encryption" should be at "none" and the "Format" should be at "read/write disk image."
This is going to create a couple of images. There is one that looks something like a disk. Copy your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files in this. Don't worry if you click on the wrong image. There is only one that you will actually be able to copy the files into.
Once you have the files copied, go back to Disk Utilities. On the left panel, you should see the name of the .dmg file that you created. Highlight it and select the "Convert" icon. Type in whatever name you want your disk to be called. Under "Image Format" select "DVD/CD master." "Encryption" should be set at "none."
Don't worry, we're almost done. :-)
Now you should have a new icon with a .cdr extension.
In Disk Utility, select the .cdr file and select the "Burn" icon. For speed, I usually recommend burning no faster than 4x speed. Also make sure that you use good disks and not cheapy ones. Stuff like that can cause problems with it playing in your DVD player.
You should now be good to go! Please let me know if you have further problems or if any of this didn't make any sense.
