OS Version: System 7.6.1

Description:
I have started using TechTool Pro v2.0.3r1, specifically the Protection control panel (which appears to be similar in function to Filesaver in NUM). I was curious where the Protection data was kept, so I did a Find File for 'visibility' is 'invisible', which revealed a file with the file name starting with TP and then the name of my hard drive volume. Since I only have a single hard drive, I thought it might be a good idea to make a copy to floppies of the 'invisible' TP Protection file (that way if my main hard drive failed and corrupted the 'invisible' TP Protection file) I could copy it back using my copy stored on floppies. When I tried to make copies, the Finder informed me that that was an illegal operation. I do not want to modify these 'TP invisible' files, I simply want to make exact copies of them in case of a traumatic hard drive crash. I realize I could also just back up the Protection files by making it copy to all local drives (which is a TechTool Protection option), but I want to determine if this can be done without resorting to another hard drive or removable device. I am hoping that someone has a shareware that solves this dilemma. You are free to use this question in your journal (which I subscribe to).

Thanks,
Mark McKenney

If you use a backup utilitie, such as retrospect, when you back up the folder that contains the invisible file/folder you will also back up the invisible file. Beyond using res edit to make it visible, than backing it up, and than turning it back invisible. I know of no other way of doing this.

Good luck and thanks for using NoWonder.
